This gorgeous Oriental rug is a 3’7″ x 5′ Persian Shiraz, circa 2000s. This hand knotted rug is made with a 100% wool, is very fine and is in good condition. The city of Shiraz has been a major city since the advent of Persia. The capital of the Fars province in the south, Shiraz is home to the famous Qashqai tribe. Shiraz rugs are woven on a cotton or wool foundation with a woollen pile. These nomadic rugs are almost always geometrical in style. Patterns tend to be small medallions or geometric figures scattered across the rugs.
